Storm Clouds
by Brian Appleby

Storm Clouds is a pop-style piece which is a lot of fun to play. After a very short slow introduction, it moves into a steady rock beat,

One the main goals in writing the piece was to give all instruments a lot of repetitions of the note concert E natural, used as an accidental.

The clarinets are playing in their low range throughout the piece, and use the low F sharp extensively. While they may not be familiar with this note at first, they will be
very familiar with it by the time they have learned this piece.

The use of clarinets in their low register on the "bass" part makes the piece work quite well for bands that may be lacking other low range instruments.

A drum set part is included but not required - the bass drum and snare drum parts provide the basic beat.
