A Walk in Sherwood

Much of this piece consists of four-measure statements of themes by various instruments, with a four-measure tutti response from the band. All instruments get to be part of at least one of the small group theme statements.

Getting young players to think and play in four-measure phrases is an important goal of this piece.

The many lyrical melodies, woodwind and brass section writing, counter melodies, and an interesting rhythmic variety make this piece a good concert or festival choice for your young band.
